The Peoria Innovation Core in north Peoria is where Amkor Technology is building a semiconductor packaging plant. The company broke ground in 2025 and has publicly raised the project to roughly seven billion dollars and about three thousand planned jobs. We are not going to pretend that has changed anyone's house plans yet. What it means is that this side of Peoria is going to keep adding people who want to build, and we would rather be the builder who already knows the area than the one who shows up after.

Peoria permits and review

Peoria has a defined custom home permit process with its own submittal checklist covering the site plan, grading, foundation, and floor plans, and the city builds on the 2018 International Residential and Building Codes as amended locally. Select residential reviews can be done over the counter by appointment, and everything else goes through the city's online plan review portal. Knowing which lane your project belongs in is worth a couple of weeks on the calendar.
